MedEdPORTAL & Educational Scholarship
Sandy Cook, PhD, is an Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs at the Pritzker School of Medicine. She will be reviewing the MedEdPORTAL, a new service through the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), which offers faculty a venue to disseminate their educational works. MedEdPORTAL was designed to promote collaboration and educational scholarship by facilitating the exchange of peer reviewed teaching resources. Through MedEdPORTAL, faculty and medical schools can both publish and share instructional and assessment materials such as graphics, animations, tutorials, cases, lab manuals, assessment instruments, faculty development materials, computer-based resources, and more.

Quality-Based Surgical Training: A New Paradigm
Paul Roach, MD, is a surgical oncology fellow at the University of Chicago. His prior training includes a General Surgery residency at the University of Maryland, an Internship at the University of California, Davis-East Bay, and a seven-month course in “Flight Surgery” at the U.S. Naval Aerospace Medical Institute. Between Internship and Fellowship he has served 4 years as a U.S. Naval Flight Surgeon, and 2 years as a General Surgeon in an overseas military hospital.
