Pre-Doctoral Training

CHeSS supports two programs which focus on enhancing graduate education for students interested in pursuing research careers in medicine and the social sciences.

The MD/PhD Program in Medicine, the Social Sciences, and Humanities (MeSH) is an opportunity for medical students to pursue a PhD degree, outside the traditional biological and physical sciences, to become innovative physician-scholars at the critical interface of medicine and society.

The Merck Quantitative Sciences Graduate Fellowship Program enables doctoral students in the Economic, Public Policy, Law or Business spheres or MD/PhD students from Medicine and Social Sciences to pursue a degree in health economics, with a focus on quantitative methods and their applications.

The Short-Term Aging Related Research Program (STAR) is an opportunity for first-year medical students to participate in aging-related research and training through the Pritzker Summer Research Program.
