UCP3 Pilot Research Grant Program

UCP3 seeks innovative proposals to study pharmaceutical policy issues, in particular, proposals that focus on the following three areas:

  • Regulation of the pharmaceutical industry

  • Health technology assessment and other policies that inform pharmaceutical coverage and reimbursement decisions

  • Factors contributing to pharmaceutical innovation

In pursuing its overall aim to promote research, training, and dissemination of knowledge concerning pharmaceutical policy issues in these areas, UCP3 will make funds available for pilot investigators to support:

  • Research materials (e.g., staff time, data, software programs) and

  • Hiring of student research assistants

Pilot grants of up to $20,000 in direct costs are available to University of Chicago faculty at all levels of experience and in all areas of disciplinary training that are relevant in addressing questions in pharmaceutical policy. UCP3 is particularly interested in proposals that recognize the interdisciplinary nature of complex pharmaceutical policy issues. As a result, successful proposals will often involve innovative interdisciplinary collaborations that promote the development of new insights and/or methods for translating those insights into practical and policy contexts.
